Everybody Has a Pool

Everybody Has a Pool 1992 oil on canvas, some collage 64 ½“ w x 49 ½“ h

This is a painting from a series started in the early 90s. I wanted to break from relying solely on figurative work.
I have always had a deep love of fabric; its texture, color, pattern or sheen, which I was surrounded by as the daughter of an interior designer. When I clean my glass pallet I use razor blades. I love the accordion texture created by the sharp blade as it scrapes off the paint, or the random color globs of paint that come together. I added these including the blades and some toothpicks I also use to clean the blades.
